an A+ kinda day..

Our Summer has flown by..
and this morning was greeted with much excitement..
our "mommy kid dates" to get the perfect attire..
found out classroom numbers and teachers names..
filled backpacks and lunch bags..
and worked on some signature “rockstar-ness” in prep for the BIG day!

I always think of the beginning of the school year a "new years day"
of sorts because there are so many new things
school supplies
clothes
shoes, socks
new teachers
new friends
new schedule
sports and dance start anew
ect..

The 2nd grade was ohhh so lucky to gain this little rock star..

the 5th grade was ready to welcome this awesome dude..
Anz was the only one to ride the bus...the older kids are just a bit "TOO COOL"
to catch a ride on that thing...

Another "first" day of school down.. just wish time would slow a little!!

end of Summer party

Every year on the last day of the kids' Summer break we throw a "end of Summer" party! It isn't really a celebration to me..I hate it when they have to go back to school, but the kids love to do it and it is a celebration of a new school year for them, so this year we had to really work it into the schedule because Ash has had practice twice a day and gets home late. But we did it and of course the kids love it. We get everything we can think of that everyone enjoys having on ice cream. Brownies, m&m's, gummy bears, oreos, bananas, strawberries, whip cream, caramel and hot fudge!!
Ash and Chan make their own version of cold stone and Anz and Jens just pile everything on their ice cream and Blayre had fun just taking samples of everything!!

Sad to see Summer has come to an end! :(

varsity..

3 words... Var. Sit. Tee.

Ashtyn told me when she was 12 years old that she would make the Varsity Volleyball team when she was a freshman! She said that this was going to be her goal and asked if we would help her achieve it.
She got a lot of different opinions on why she should shoot for J.V.and not dream something so big!! set her expectations to something that could be reached!
but there were those few that would tell her that if she set that goal and worked hard and kept her eye on the prize she would get there!

AND SHE DID!

Congrats Ash I always knew you could do it!! We are so proud of you. I know how hard you worked to get here and you did it!
Sky's the limit for you baby!
LOVE YOU!

big day

Jensen started football this week. This is the first year he gets to play with pads, in Shelley the boys can not play in pads until the 5th grade. Jensen has been waiting for this day since he was 6. He got home tonight and didn't take the pads and helmet off until it was time to brush his teeth! :) This is such an exciting week at our house! Grid Kid football get ready for this....

Jessie

Jessie is the most amazing girl ever!
She is one of those people that you are so lucky to meet in life that is just so wonderful and patient, someone that you know just loves what they do, by the way they treat your children!

We met Jessie when her older sister Holly was teaching Ash & Chan private swim lessons, Holly called me and asked if her sister could come and help out with the girls. I think she was 13 or 14, my girls loved her instantly!

Which is why I share this post.

Jessie has been our swim teacher for most of the kids' lives.. Jensen and Anz have never had anyone else teach them. When we found out we were going to be so lucky to have her back this year, all of the kids wanted to go back and have her teach them. Even the older girls!

Jessie was so nice to help Ash get a shoe in at the pool and she will be able to teach there next year.

Swimming is a very important life skill, and I owe it to Jessie for teaching my children how to swim. :)

Anz is the energizer bunny's biggest competitor, so to try to get her to listen for very long is a challenge. So I thought teaching Anzleigh how to swim was going to be a challenge from the start, but Jessie has been so patient with all of them, and is so good at what she does.

I have watched her grow up over the past 6 years, infact she is getting married this year!
So this was our last year to have her as our swim teacher. What ever shall we do??

We love her and will miss her!

Thank you so much Jessie!!

So on the last day of lessons Anz had about 100 things she had in mind to do for Jessie to thank her for being such a good teacher. Jessie and Anz share the same birthday and last year Anz made a card for Jessie and I never got it off, so Anz helped me make her a GIANT cupcake..it wasn't the most beautiful cupcake but it was definitely made with LOTS OF LOVE!!
